Happy Kidney Month and Early Spring!!

So it's been just over a month since my last post, so this post will contain most of what mattered to me this month, and I will try to keep my posts more frequent!

In March of last year I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). It is an incurable genetic disease that forms many cysts on the kidneys, eventually leading to kidney failure. PKD affects more than 12.5 million people, and it is suspected that there are millions more people affected who will not know it until it becomes a serious problem.
Soon after I was diagnosed my whole family became proactive in getting tested, and raising funds and awareness for PKD.
I would not be able to get through this without my family and friends. I am so grateful for everything they have done for me.

On a happier note, SPRING HAS ARRIVED!!
The sun here in Ottawa is beaming, and the temperature is rising up to 15°c. I have been missing out on all that vitamin D! I plan to take my bike out tomorrow and do a tour of the canal.
Another good thing happening this spring is that my sister will be moving back in with me on the first of April! I've always been used to seeing her everyday, so it will be nice having family around me all the time again.

What are you most excited for this spring? Fashion? Weather? Sports? Tanning?
Let me know.

Are you a 'Modern Lover'?

Mod·ern - adjective
characteristic of present and recent time; contemporary; not antiquated or obsolete

Lov·er - noun
One who is fond of or devoted to something

Looking into this, I have realized what I think is the meaning behind being a 'Modern Lover'.
While originally I had used this title in the sense that our current culture throws the 'L' word around all the time without any actual meaning behind it. After looking at the definitions, I feel that being a 'Modern Lover' is simply one who loves and lives for the present moment.

Let me know what you think being a 'Modern Lover' is all about.

Carpe Diem

I only wish...

That I could get these awesome glasses!
They are roughly 16-18 $ each (US) and are very hard to find in Canada.
The shot glasses are the only ones I have come across in person. They can be found at the Tiggy Winkles in the Rideau Center.

Instead of getting these, I went to Value Village and bought a set of beer mugs and cocktail glasses for roughly 18$.
Let me know which one you like the best!

Starbucks Nerd

So being a Starbucks employee, partner, stock holder, and SBUX nerd, I feel like I have enough knowledge to have compiled a list of the top beverages you could ever get at Starbucks.

5. Zen Tea
A blend of green tea and lemongrass. This tea is an amazing pick me up in the morning when you don't have enough time to brew coffee or you are looking for a healthier source of caffeine.

4. Skinny Vanilla Latte
A perfect drink for anyone! with only 90 calories in a tall, this is one of my personal favorites.

3. Passion Tea Lemonade
A great spring or summer drink! A perfect blend of a fruit tea and lemonade.

2. Double Pump Raspberry Lemonade
Words can't even describe how perfectly sweet this is! This would be a number one if it had any caffeine in it!

1. Caramel Macchiato
It's like the Vanilla Latte, but one upped with the caramel drizzle! Words can't describe how much I love this drink. I personally like to order this extra hot and with a load of extra espresso!

All aboard!

So I have decided to jump on the band wagon and create my own blog.
